So here’s the scoop on me… I call myself a Whole Body Wellness Expert because I have so many tools in my wellness tool box to guide you to a healthy, pain-free, energetic, abundant, love-filled and thriving life, that calling myself just a holistic health coach or just an acupuncturist lowers the expectations of what my clients get when they work with me.

When you work with me, you will receive whole body care to help you find your glow, feel energized, lose weight without dieting, say goodbye to the chronic pain and migraines, and balance your hormones. You will be amazed at how good you can feel!

I started down the road to comprehensive Whole Body Wellness when I was working as an acupuncturist at Triangle Acupuncture Clinic. After treating hundreds of patients over the years, I started to notice something very interesting. My patients who were the most compliant and followed my diet, supplement, and lifestyle suggestions were the ones who got BETTER and went on to lead transformed lives. Whereas, the patients who weren’t really interested in making changes in their diet or lifestyle, did notice definite improvement from when they started working with me, but they usually didn’t become 100% well and happy. I was intrigued.

I yearned to be able to work more with the patients who truly wanted change, and were willing to make the necessary changes so that they could feel GLOWING and HEALTHY. That is why I started Exponential Wellness. So that I could focus on helping people like you take control of their health and of their lives, and watch them transform exponentially…

When we work together, I emphasize that this is a team effort. I use the tools I have in my tool box (acupuncture and Chinese medicine; health coaching; medical qi gong; food and nutrition therapy; and hormone balancing assessments) to help you and your body overcome the health challenges you are experiencing. As such, I encourage you to make some changes to help you take ownership of your healing- yes you CAN take some control back in your life- I promise! That is what I will help you do. When you work with me you get my guidance, support and love, and an accountability partner to hold you to the things you say you are going to do. I am your cheerleader, your coach, your confidante, and your healer.

My journey

Overcoming pain and finding a gift…

My journey in the health and wellness field began in 1999, when I developed severe tendonitis in my elbows and wrists from repetitive computer use. The intense pain forced me to quit my job, because continuing the computer work I was doing was just too painful. I discovered acupuncture and Chinese Medicine as a last resort- my doctor referred me after I had tried everything else.

Guess what? After months of continuing pain, in just a few acupuncture treatments the pain started to improve, and eventually it went away. I was sold on acupuncture. So much so that in 2001, I decided to learn more about Chinese medicine and become a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, CA. From the moment I stepped foot inside the treatment room there I knew this was what I was meant to be doing. I had found my path! And in that moment, I was grateful for the months of pain that had led me to this place.

I have been in practice since 2005, first in San Francisco, CA and then since 2007 in the Triangle area of North Carolina. For seven years I worked with Triangle Acupuncture Clinic in Chapel Hill and in Raleigh before going out on my own in April 2014.

More health challenges…

More recently, I encountered more health challenges. At the worst I had daily headaches that over-the-counter meds didn’t touch. My digestion had also become awful- so much gas and bloating that it was embarrassing.  I realized I had to make some changes and get to the bottom of what was going on. For me it turned out that I had food sensitivities/intolerances. Finding this out led me on a journey of healing and experimentation as I sought to understand what I could do to help myself heal and how to live without my treasured foods that were slowly killing me. This experience and my passion for empowering people to learn how to nourish and fuel their bodies inspired me to study at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) to become a holistic health coach.

The Holistic Health Coach training program at IIN incorporated my passions for food, nutrition, and guiding people to learn to live healthy and fulfilled lives. I completed the course in 2013. I also completed the Teach the Hormone Cure certification program by Sara Gottfried MD, author of The Hormone Cure. This allows me to use Dr. Gottfried’s systematized method, The Gottfried Protocol, as a means to help get to the bottom of tricky health conditions such as weight resistance, low energy, low sex drive, and food cravings for her patients.

Armed with all of these tools, my own experiences in healing from health challenges, and a passion to help transform people’s lives, I set out on my own in April 2014, to start Exponential Wellness, LLC. Now I use all of my skills as a Whole Body Wellness Expert to help my patients truly thrive.

I offer Whole Body Wellness sessions and programs that incorporate some or all of these modalities: hormone balancing; food therapy; stress reduction techniques; acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and medical qi gong, as well as various Western herbs and supplements. In addition, I offer acupuncture and medical qi gong treatments for patients who want to focus on specific health conditions such as chronic pain.

My education/background:

I did my undergraduate degree at the University of California, Berkeley, where I achieved a Bachelor’s of Arts, and I attended Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego for my Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine degree. I have my holistic health coach degree from Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I am nationally certified by the National Certification Committee for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, and I maintain acupuncture licenses in North Carolina and California. I am a member of the North Carolina Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. I am also certified by the AADP (American Association of Drugless Practitioners) and a qualified practitioner in The Gottfried Protocol designed my Sara Gottfried M.D., author of The Hormone Cure.

Exponential Wellness Mission

“Let food be thy medicine” ~ Hippocrates

The mission of Exponential Wellness is to inspire people to live vibrant, healthy, and happy lives. I believe that the body innately knows how to heal itself when given a chance. I give people the tools they need to help their bodies heal and to help them find their true happiness. Using a step-by-step approach I inspire clients to take control of their bodies and their lives so that they can live powerfully and meaningfully. As my clients heal, they inspire others in their lives to heal and live happily as well. The effect is exponential- thus creating a movement: to heal ourselves, our communities, and the world.
