Refreshing and Hormone-Balancing Blueberry Lemon Smoothie

Adapted from Andrea Nakayama of Replenish PDX, who is a functional nutritionist in Portland, OR and has been one of my teachers. Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of filtered water
  • 1 cup wild blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • zest from one lemon
  • juice from one lemon
  • 2 tablespoons ground flaxseeds
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 large fistful of parsley
  • 6-8 drops of stevia, 1 tablespoon of raw honey, or 2 dates (pitted)
  • ice (optional)
  • scoop of hemp or pea protein powder (optional)

Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. If you do not have a high-speed blender, chop up the parsley before you add it to the blender. This smoothie is not thick- it is pretty runny- but it is very refreshing. I hope you enjoy! I usually make it without the added protein powder, but on the days when I know I will need more staying power, I add in the scoop of protein powder.
